| Wetland Animals There are many different types of animals that thrive in the environment that the wetlands provide for them. One of the most common found in this area is the mallard duck. Even though it may look to the naked eye that not much is taking place here that would be incorrect. There are plenty of animals that get all they need in the environment offered by the wetlands. From researching the various animals that live in the wetlands it is known that they are able to adapt quite well to their surroundings. This is good news because it means they should be able to survive if the natural climate changes. However, there is very little hope for them when man steps in and completely destroys all they at they rely upon for their survival. Some people have the idea that fish and other animals that live in the wetlands are going to be altered in some way because of the algae and things that grow in the marshes and swamps. You aren’ t going to find fish with three eyes though or frogs with extra sets of legs. All of that is a myth that just doesn’t seem to want to die down in our culture. You will likely find some unexpected animals living in the wetlands too that you never expected. They include deer, beaver, and rabbits. Just about any type of animal may live in the wetlands depending on the overall climate and location of it. This is why protective efforts are so vital. Removing the wetlands means they no longer have a home. With so many different animals depending on the wetlands for survival the number of animals that would perish is very high. There are all types of birds, fish, and insects that live in the wetland areas. When these are areas are destroyed they have no place to go. Many of the birds are able to find other homes but not always. The fish and the insects have a hard time though and they will most certainly die. Encouraging the efforts to protect the wetlands is the best way you can do your part to protect such animals. Wetland Protection: In the past large areas of wetlands around the world have been completely destroyed as they weren’t viewed as anything valuable. They were drained and other things such as homes, busineses, and roads put in their place. Today we realize that wetlands are very important to various species of plants and animals. They also offer us protection from wind and flooding. The issue of the wetlands being destroyed means that we will all suffer the effects. The efforts to protect the wetlands first began in the early 1970’s and they have continued through today. There is more backing for such efforts today than ever before. This is due to the amount of educational material out there about the benefits of the wetlands as well as what lives there. More people want to do their part to protect our environment more future generations as well. |
